Salt-Free Bread For Babies

Salt-less bread for babies: our secret!

Finding bread that is suitable for your baby is easier said than done! Most of the options in the supermarket either have high levels of salt or a load of unrecognisable preservatives.

If you want to make your own bread from scratch with no added salt or nasties, then we’ve got the perfect recipe for you! It’s easy to make, you just need a few pantry ingredients, a stand mixer and a bit of time to let the dough rise. The nifty trick we use to replace salt is by using olive brine, so make sure you have this ingredient before starting!

Here is our recipe:

Ingredients:
1 cup (240ml) warm water
2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons (15ml) olive brine water
1 tablespoon (15g) plant-based butter
1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml) chia seeds
1 teaspon (7g) dry yeast

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
2. Add all ingredients to a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook attachment.
3. Mix on low speed for 8 minutes, or until the dough comes together and is smooth.
4. Add the olive brine water and mix on medium speed for 6 minutes, or until the dough is elastic and shiny.
5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal pieces.
7. Shape each piece of dough into a ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
8. Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for another hour, or until doubled in size.
9. Bake the bread rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
10. Let the bread rolls cool on a wire rack before serving.
