About this dish

No added salt or sugar

Flavour comes from herbs, spices and the ingredients themselves.

Our black bean ragu is slow-cooked with carrot, onion, garlic, rosemary and thyme until rich and soft. Black beans bring plant protein and fibre, and the deep savoury flavour makes it a hearty, meat-free dinner.

For older children, sprinkle grated cheddar on top and let them fold it into a wrap to build their own taco. Making their own plate is a great way to get toddlers interested in what they eat.

How to choose a texture

Questions parents ask

Can babies eat black beans?

Yes. Beans are a great source of plant protein and fibre. We cook ours until very soft and offer the ragu smooth, lumpy or bite-sized for babies from 7 months.

How do I reheat the black bean ragu?

Microwave for 60 seconds (baby) or 90 seconds (toddler) in your own microwave-safe container. For older children, add grated cheddar and serve in a wrap.

Is the black bean ragu dairy-free?

Yes. It uses plant-based spread and our homemade vegetable stock, so it is vegetarian, dairy-free and egg-free.
